When I was selling softwares at the beginning of my sales career, I attended one sales training.

The trainer asked the participants “Who do you think is your biggest enemy?”

For a few seconds, there was a deep silence in the entire class.

And then answers started coming one by one.

One participant said: “High price.”

The second participant said: “A sceptical or uneducated customer.”

The third said: “Low-quality products and poor service.”

Even one said: “the customer’s wife.”

And like these, there were a bunch of answers in the next 5-10 minutes.

After listening to all these answers carefully, the trainer gave his opinion.

He said: “I think, it’s the Internet.”

You see, in the last 2 decades, the internet has started eating a salesman’s job.

Many things are sold online, without any salesman’s help.

Online retail is a perfect example.

Even high-ticket items can be sold online if your website and sales page are effective.

There are many advantages to selling on the internet.

The Internet is open 24 hours, unlike a retail shop.

The Internet works 365 days without taking any sick leaves.

The Internet doesn’t have an attitude problem.

People can buy from any part of the world.

The Internet is transparent.

But have you ever wondered if the internet is so good then why companies still hire salespeople?

Well, I think, being a salesman; you play the role of a consultant while dealing with customers.

You listen to your customer’s problems, objections, requirements, and provide the best solution to them.

In short, humans know best how to deal with humans.

However, don’t ignore Artificial Intelligence…

Now, what will you do?
