One of my favourite topics of discussion is incompetency.
My close associates know how much I hate incompetence.
In fact, a few years back I developed my own funda of the entire process of Incompetent system.
Incompetency leads to Insecurity.
Insecurity leads to Politics.
And Politics leads to Incompetent system.
Let me explain this whole process with an example…
Suppose you’re just an average salesman in your company but quite relaxed because your job is safe.
Maybe because you’re senior in the company.
Or maybe you have a good bonding with your boss.
Or maybe the company doesn’t have any other choice at present.
But one day the company decides to hire another sales guy who is smart, intelligent, hard worker.
Gradually this newly joined starts getting more orders than you. The whole office starts appreciating him. Calling him Go-Getter… Closer… Star Salesman.
Now tell me frankly… what is going inside your mind?
Haven’t you started feeling insecure? Because you know he is a better performer and maybe one day eats your job.
Now you have two choices.
Either to grow yourself, do hard work, and become competent.
Or to throw him out of your company by playing office politics. You can involve other incompetent colleagues with you.
What do you think is an easier one for you?
Gotcha!
Don’t take it personally. This is just an example to show what happens generally in offices which are shamelessly following an incompetent system.
The point is… It’s not wrong being incompetent. The problem is taking the wrong choice.
If you take the right choice of growing yourself no matter how much time it takes, no matter how much effort it takes… not only you will become better in your craft, but you’ll start challenging your superiors.
Trust me; it will become fun for you.
So, are you ready to challenge your seniors?
