I’ve seen many people join sales because they don’t have big impressive qualifications.
Of course, you don’t need any world-class MBA to become a good salesman.
However, if you’re selling any technical product or service, knowledge of that area is a must for you.
That’s why many tech guys easily move into sales. Because they know the strengths and weaknesses of their product as well as of their competitor’s products.
But this doesn’t mean that these techies become good at selling. Knowledge of products is just the first step.
To become a supreme at selling one needs to go through the college of hard knocks.
Salesmanship requires dealing with wins and losses.
Salesmanship requires dealing with rejections.
Salesmanship requires an understanding of human behaviour.
Salesmanship requires influencing your customer’s mind.
Salesmanship requires mastering the process of persuasion.
You see, selling is as serious as any other profession.
It’s a matter of your livelihood.
It’s a matter of your prosperity.
It’s a matter of providing the best to your family.
So, if you want to be a first-class at selling, be ready to go through the college of hard knocks.
Once you master this skill, you can’t imagine how big can be the rewards.
